FamlyLife is my first priority when it comes to ministry, but during the homeschooling years of my girls, Stoa speech & debate has been another ministry outlet for me. It has been great to have something related to their education that I have been able to serve with. This year was the 10th anniversary of the Arkansas Diamond Speech & Debate tournament, and I realized I have been doing the judge food for eight of those ten! I cannot even count the number of cups of coffee, pounds of BBQ pork, and tons of desserts that I have set out to entice our community judges to stick around a judge ‘just one more round!’. Through the long hours and crazy times, I would still recommend that anyone who lives near a tournament should take the time and go judge. stoausa.org My time investing at this level with Stoa will come to an end in the next year or two (as Amanda graduates), but I expect I’ll always be looking to help out.
