I want to be a part of it – New York, New York!

Our Blog has been (and will be) a bit sporadic this summer due to the amount of travel we have planned, but we wanted to share this exciting story of ‘the Big Apple’ with you!  While the girls and I were already on the road for NITOC ( Speech Nationals), Eric received and invitation to be a part of an Art of Marriage event right outside of NYC at the end of our trip back East.  Rather than fly home to Arkansas and straight back to New York, we decided to add an extra tourist day with the girls in the city to the end of our trip.  This is not really their idea of ‘vacation’ – they would much prefer the beach – but we were able to do some important sight seeing and give them a sense of the city.  We began our day in Battery Park, spent some time at the 9/11 memorials, took the subway to Time Square, walked from there to Chinatown for dinner, then walked back to our car in the Financial District.  Yes, a LOT of walking!  We were all dead tired when we arrived in the hotel.  The next morning the girls and I hit the road heading back to Arkansas, while Eric headed out to his event.  Here is his description of the day:

What do a Muslim, Jew, Christian, a woman married 34 years, a couple living together over 1 year, and a divorcee’ all have in common?

You probably didn’t guess that each of them attended a recent Art of Marriage event I helped staff outside New York City.  Over 40 people were in attendance at the first such session held during the work day for employees (and significant others) of one of our FamilyLife partners’ business.  Everyone was given the day off, and the event was FREE.

The Art of Marriage was part of the company’s commitment to helping their team members and families attain their best possible life through resources to help tackle some of life’s most important – and most difficult – issues.

What a great day to see God working!  The business owner started the day with his testimony – that clearly stated God made a difference in their marriage and the Weekend to Remember helped them realize their need.

Please pray for the continuing work of the corporate chaplain to follow up on some conversations.  May the seeds planted that day be watered.  Pray for more such events at this business.

Eric then flew home on Wednesday, and the girls and I made such great time in the car that we ended up pulling in late that same night!  Lots of great things happened during those weeks on the road, but we wanted to share this glimpse with you first.  Thanks for being a part of what we do!
