Just over a week after the storms, President Obama came to visit Little Rock and the surrounding tornado damaged areas this week.  This is in no way meant to be a political dig – he gave a very nice speech, encouraged the storm victims, and praised the first responders.  I just found it interesting to reflect on what he said.

“A lot of work remains to be done but I’m here to remind you that you’re not in this alone,” the president said.

This was President Obama’s first visit to Arkansas as president, he landed at approximately 1 pm on Wednesday and departed a little before 3 pm that same afternoon.  Less than two hours on the ground to tell storm victims that they are not alone.  An American president is a very busy man – the fact that he made time to come at all was a testament to the impact of these storms – but it just reminded me how thankful I am that God is never too busy.  He is always with us!

As Hebrews 12:5-6  says:

For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.”

Or John 14:27:

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The president may stop through, shake hands, and have a few pictures taken, but we know that we are never alone.   God was here through every moment of the storm and will be here through each step of recovery!
