This is a picture of a few of the students from our Speech & Debate Club called SOAR. It has been a privilege to coach them in speech (with my debate coaching partner) for the past few years. Last weekend was our first tournament of the season hosted by a NorthWest AR team called Rising Eagles – well, we SOARed at the Rising Eagles! One of my favorite things about this activity is how everybody grows and learns no matter what level they are at. One of our most experienced teams competed in debate finals – a great accomplishment for them. But, one of our brand new speech students earned a medal in her very first competition, too!  Cool stuff!

While FamilyLife is my first ‘job’, I’ve been so blessed that they allow me the time to invest in the ‘job’ of the girls homeschooling. As for our girls, they placed 3d in the Duo event that they do together, were 4th and 5th in Original Oratory, and Brenna was 6th in Apologetics. They also cheered on their friends in debate finals, encouraged their new, nervous competitor who ended up getting her medal, and overall learned more of what ‘team’ means!
