Every year as 9/11 comes around I consider how to honor that day – especially for the girls and in our home-school setting. Even though Amanda was not even born yet, and Brenna was just a few months old it is still part of their history. It has shaped the world that they have grown up in. Adults often talk about living in a post-9/11 world, but that post-9/11 world is the only world they have known. I tell them the story of being at Barns & Noble story time when the pictures began on the cafe television. I tell them how Eric’s office shut down that afternoon and sent everyone home to be with their families. They may not have their own ‘where were you when…’ story, but they will know the family story. This year we also watched this YouTube video together, and yes, cried together. Click here if you’d like to view as well.
I am always careful, though, to be sure to leave them with hope, as this post from FamilyLife Blended speaks about. Click hear for 2 min. audio of our 9/11 program. May we all Never Forget, and Always Hope!
