In our house there has been a lot of talk about China lately – and not all of it good.  Both Charissa and Amanda are part of the debate team this year, and as such have had to memorize the following resolution:

Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reform its trade policy with one or more of the following nations: China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan.

The biggest player in this line up is China.  They have been in the news quite a bit for ‘currency manipulation’, ‘cyber-piracy’, and many other unfair trade policies.  As the girls research more and more, they question why we are involved in trade with this difficult country at all.

BUT – China as a governmental trade partner does not equal China as a people.  The people of China are made up of almost a billion lost souls needing Christ and 67 million Christians seeking to live out their faith in difficult circumstances.  And YOU are making a difference in those lives by your support of us serving at FamilyLife!

Just last month 120 people attended a Weekend to Remember in China.  Out of this group; 49 people signed up to be in a HomeBuilders group, 28 indicated that they had prayed to receive Christ, and 53 recommitted their marriages to Christ!!  Possibly even more exciting than these numbers, though, is that the speakers for the whole event were two Chinese couples!  Our American staff couple were able to just help with coordination, and leave all the up front work to the local Chinese people themselves.

So as we study for debate, and maybe as you catch China in the news, we can lift the government AND the people in prayer together!
