Remember last week I mentioned that I was planning on making Resurrection Cookies with my girls? Well, Charissa (our chef-to-be) would like me to clearly point out that she was NOT home when that baking project began. Why? Because they turned out bad – I don’t just mean ‘oh, they don’t look like a magazine cover’ kind of bad – I mean ‘under whipped, shapeless, burned, most ended up in the garbage’ kind of bad. Don’t believe they could have really been that bad? Just look –
And these are some of the better ones! Brenna read all the Bible verses for us as we followed the recipe, and Amanda and I enjoyed the process of putting the cookies together but overall, they just turned out gross! We have done this before and had them be picture perfect so I’m not exactly how we messed them up that bad. I hope maybe some of you had better results!
One thing new that we tried that did turn out well, though, was a new Ever Thine Home (FamilyLife) product called ‘Oh Taste and See’ (order here). We had friends over for Easter so I placed one of these decorative cards at each place setting – leaving only Eric with double reading duty. Each card tells a piece of the Passover/Easter story – only a few paragraphs long. We read three before eating, another three as we were finishing up, and then the final two when we went back to the table for dessert. Even for our ‘well churched’ group there were a few ‘I didn’t know that’ moments, but the stories were in small pieces that could have been understood by most anyone. We all really enjoyed this addition to our Easter meal (much more than the cookies!)
