On January 7th, Vonette Bright, wife of the late Bill Bright and co-founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, broke her left hip, her left arm in two places just below the shoulder, and she received a nasty gash along her left eyebrow which required 30 stitches. After two successful surgeries, she is preparing for a long and painful rehabilitation process. A pre-existing blood disease will also complicate her recovery.
Her children report:
“The accident has shaken us, yet still there have been some sweet moments in the midst of it. After her second surgery, disoriented from the anesthesia, she looked at the clock and said, “What are we doing wasting time here? There’s a lost world out there and we are wasting time!” Leave it to my mother, Vonette Bright to be worried, even under anesthesia, about the lost souls across the globe and still driven to make a difference!
The road ahead is daunting. If God is getting ready to take her home she is ready, but if God is going to leave her on this planet for a while longer we are committed to helping her stay engaged in ministry, which is her clearly stated wish. In light of that, please pray and ask God to restore her so she can re-engage in ministry, if time on earth remains.”
Just this past Sunday the provided the following update:
“We are praising God for small victories! Mother was able to stand (with help and support) for 30 seconds as well as sit in a wheel chair! Her progress since arriving at the rehab facility is amazing! Please continue to pray!
We usually have game night with Mother on the weekends and decided to try doing it on Saturday night in rehab. Not only was Mother able to play Uno with us– she won!! Our family is too competitive to “let” her win. She was happy as a clam.”
Prayer Requests:
1. Pray the hemoglobin level is the same as last week.
2. Strength for physical therapy.
3. She would like to be home in four weeks, please pray with her to that end.
